IS BLOW DRYING YOUR BEARD REALLY A GOOD IDEA?
Every single beard is different. It doesn’t matter whether you have a glorious mane or whether you have a stubble that you are trying to grow out. The problem is that some beards are much harder to maintain and control than others and this can leave you wondering whether or not the whole thing is worth it. Blow drying can help to straighten your beard hair and it also gives you the chance to style it in whichever way you see fit, but with some people believing that it can actually damage your hair, you do need to be careful as to what you use and what you don’t.
Can A Blow Dryer Damage your Beard?
It is a well-known fact that when your hair is exposed to high temperatures, the surface of the hair gets damaged and this happens even more as the temperature increases. As a result, the hairs in the beard get tough and rough. This can even lead you to experience some form of discolouration as well. A study was done to try and find out, and they found that even though a blow dryer does do more damage when compared to air drying, it is possible to avoid this by holding the hair dryer 15cm away. If you do this with a continuous motion, this is actually better for your hair when compared to letting it dry naturally!
Wet Hair = Bad Beard
Wet hair weighs down the strands of hair and it also puts additional pressure on any hair follicles that are present. Quicker evaporation helps this and it also provides a lot less tension as well. The old perception of blow drying your beard may sound logical, but in reality, it’s not true at all and if you use beard oil and beard balm, you really can get incredible results.
